The Second Annual AFCEA Augusta-Fort Gordon Chapter Industry Days will be held September 8th through 10th at the Augusta Marriott Hotel and Suites. This unclassified event will focus on rapidly emerging communications concepts and is intended to bring industry representatives together with those military individuals closest to the communications challenges and issues facing soldiers in the field. There will be a particular focus on wireless and cellular technologies, concepts and architectures.

In honor of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the United States Army Signal Corps, there will be two panels consisting of those professionals who are closest to the technologies which keep our military communicating– non-commissioned officers and warrant officers. These patriots will have recently returned from theater and will present first hand, unfiltered experiences and provide outstanding guidance to attendees.

There will be a social golf outing on Wednesday, September 8th for early arrivers at Forest Hills Golf Course, located about 15 minutes from the Marriott Hotel. This will be a good chance to introduce yourself to other industry and government representatives.

Day One (Thursday, 9 Sept):

Opening address: MG Mark Bowman, Director of Architecture, Operations, Networks, and Space, CIO/G-6 will provide perspectives from current operations.

Panel one will consist of project officers from the US Army Signal Center Concepts Development and Integration Directorate (CDID) who will provide information on and discuss the near and mid-term issues they are currently working. Topics include Global Network Operations, the Brigade Combat Team Modernization Network, and Cyber Initiatives.

Panel two will consist of Non-Commissioned Officers who are recent combat veterans currently assigned to the Signal Regimental NCO Academy and have come from various units to provide different perspectives. Their focus will be to provide feedback to industry on services and products they experienced in an operational signal environment.

Luncheon Speaker: COL Brian Moore, Director of Capabilities Development and Integration Directorate, Signal Center of Excellence will be addressing the forum and giving his unique perspective on how current warfighter requirements are translated into capabilities.

Panel Three will consist of Warrant Officers who are recent combat veterans who will provide insights into their recent experiences.  Their focus will also be to provide feedback to industry on services and products they experienced in an operational environment.

Day Two (Friday, 10 Sept)

The final day will only last until 1130hrs to allow attendees to travel home in time for the weekend.

Opening address: BG Alan Lynn, Commanding General, US Army Signal Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon and Army Chief of Signal, will provide a futures perspective on the outlook of the network and the Regiment.

Wireless/Cellular Panel : The panel discussion will focus on the Army's efforts to bring Wireless and Cellular capabilities to the tactical force. It will include an overview of operational concepts, architectures and emerging requirements for the military.

This Industry Day forum is intended to be a quick, informative update in an informal setting of the significant work the Army will have done in the previous 90-days and allow for plenty of Q&A and exchanges to allow soldiers to interface directly with industry without filters – focusing on how industry can help them in today’s challenging environment.
